I enjoyed reading this and learning some interesting facts about WWII. Easy to read and understand, this book is perfect for trivia fans who want to know more about WWII. None of the facts are hard to find and most are well known by historians, but it's perfect for normal people who just want to know a bit more, or anyone who wants to learn some neat facts. I enjoyed the layout of this book, with short chapters ending with some trivia questions to help you think more about what you just read.

this was a very interesting book. the information written was very in depth and it gave a complete view of not only the wars themselves but what lead up to, caused, and what happened because of the wars. it also added the different ways that people have profited off of the wars via film, books and other media. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading another of his books.

I am a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater on a Destroyer, LST, and a Repair Ship. I began reading Mr. O'Neill's book on World War Two Trivia and it sounded like it was written by a child for children. Many parts of this book are completely inaccurate and I decided that I did not need this book in my 3000+ library of fine books. Mr. O'Neill should put a bit more effort in his research. The book was OK. The trivia is more in the form of anecdotes and stories...I would have preferred a question and answer format. Some of the information contained is not so trivial...fairly common knowledge. I don't regret buying the book, but not overly excited either.

My apartment's maintenance man enjoyed it so much! I wasn't sure - because he's too young to know much about the war. But he's an ex-Marine! He loved it - and I'll buy the next part of it for next time!

As a long time WW2 history buff I have a section of my personal library dedicated to it. Even with all the books and movies, there were many pieces of information I was unaware. This is well researched and objective. This is a great book for any history buff and would be a great history text book.

I really like the idea of this book: enabling parents to determine when to treat their children at home, see a doctor, or go to the emergency room. Each medical scenario features a neat workflow diagram and easy-to-follow instructions. Some basic first aid info is also provided.A good portion of the book is devoted to basic health information for parents from pregnancy through adolescence. While this info is helpful, some of it was outdated or overly-simplistic. For more complete information on nursing, I recommend "The Nursing Mother's Companion," and for eating and nutrition, I recommend "Baby-Led Weaning."However, if you're looking for a book to help you know what to do in a given medical crisis with your child, Taking Care of Your Child is a great resource to keep on your shelf.(I read the 9th edition of this book.)

I used this book 35+ years ago with my own child and I give the updated version of it frequently as baby shower gifts. So helpful to know when to seek outside medical treatment and things one can do at home. Clearly written and very well organized!! I just advise against first time expecting parents reading through all of it at once, as it will freak you out thinking about all the illnesses and injuries possible for children! LOL!

I used this book when my kids were small 25 years ago. Now I bought the 9th edition for my son to use with his new son. This is a user friendly book with good information. It is very easy to access, especially at 3am with a sick child.

This book is awesome! I wish I would have known about it with my first child. I use it at least once a week, often more.

A must have for EVERY parent! I wore mine out 30 years ago when my children were young, and purchased this for my son and daughter-in-law and grandson. This edition has lots more information than the one I had all those years ago, but the flow charts are still the best for answering any of your questions and concerns.

I gave this book as a gift to new parents. It's the same book, now many editions later, that my children's pediatrician recommended. It was consulted many times in their lives. A very helpful practical book, simple format.

We bought this for our son and daughter-in-law. We had the first edition when he was born and found it very useful. Would highly recommend for anyone, especially first time parents.

I have the first edition, and was happy to see it was updated and still around for my children.

This is the first book review that Iâ€™ve ever written and this is because most books are regurgitations of prior writings- this book is not the aforementioned. Mithu lays out a clear and workable process in order to improve ones relationship to stress. This book has some great recommendations without becoming too prescriptive or dogmatic about how one should begin to ameliorate stress. What I loved most about the book is that it is heavily researched derived and sparsely anecdotal if at all. Books of this sort should only lay out the facts and allow the reader to discern what is applicable to thier own life, which is exactly what Dr. Storoni has accomplished in my opinion.

I'm glad I took a chance on this book. I've struggled with stress my entire life, especially with being unable to let things go, and this book explains why. It describes what happens in the brain during a stressful event and how to overcome it. Dr. Storoni gives easy, practical tips for dealing with stress on a short term and long term basis. Some of the medical terminology gets complicated, but it really helps to know what's going on in the brain, that it's not as easy as just let it go. I feel empowered now. I have an actual strategy for dealing with the negative things in life. I'm not kicking myself for overreacting anymore. Very thankful to have bought this.

I first rented an audiobook of this title from the library. I felt it was so informative that I needed a personal copy. I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 58 and stress is my biggest trigger. I'm looking forward to reading this again at my own pace and implementing some of the suggestions for stress relief.

I truly enjoyed this book! Dr Storini gives you countless ideas on how to be in the best physical and emotional state to handle stress. Each idea is backed up and detailed with scientific examples that are fascinating. I recomend this book for everyone no matter the amount on stress you endure or have experienced.

Great read. This book gives you the technology to learn how to control stress. It's a technology we could all benefit from, in this fast paced and crazy world we live in.

I get stressed when I read this book and it wasn't the purpose I guess, considering the title of this book.The author tells the reader about different studies but there's a lack of more in-depth information.

I just finished reading the book and really enjoyed the read. It somehow confirms some of the basic ideas of strategy formulation and implementation, in terms of the need to have a coordinated efforts on multi fronts to have a successful strategy, but concentrated in 10 levers that the authors believe make the biggest impact.The authors concluded that companies that made it to the top of a Power Curve (a curve that ranks companies on their ability to create economic profits, with the ones on the top generating exponentially more economic profit than the 2300 or so companies in the sample) shared a similar characteristics in using 10 levers that contributed the most in the success of companies. If the statistical analysis of the presented results are correct (I assume they are, but have no mean to confirm or disagree), this view gives a good yard stick to compare companies from different industries and sizes on their ability to create value, and could be used as a guide post in strategy formulation to achieve better results. The authors referred to the social side of strategy (cognitive biases, status quo...etc) and their effect on strategy formulation and resources allocation, and contend that, used correctly, the Power Curve could be used to "de-bias" and have constructive discussions on strategy. The authors finally propose 8 shifts in the way strategy exercises are conducted, to improve the process and increase the chances of success.Overall very interesting read, and i think the recommendations are practical and implementable, and could be used in strategy discussions in all companies!

I found this book to be particularly bad. The authors had some good insights like â€œdonâ€™t allocate resources across many opportunities; rather, pick your best ones and allocate them thereâ€. But most of the book focused on completely non-actionable information. For example, if you have the best endowment (i.e., you are much bigger than the competition, have low debt levels, and have historically spend a lot on R&D relative to your competitors) you are more likely to earn outsized returns for your shareholders (which is how they measure good strategy). Of course as of right now, there is nothing you can do about that.They do acknowledge that some of their advice is non-actionable, but seem to miss the boat that almost none of their advice is actionable. For example, outside of your endowment your â€œtrendsâ€ also significantly impact your ability. Trends reflect how strongly your industry is growing and how strong your geography is growing (e.g., China vs the UK). Of course you could completely change industries or move to an area like China to benefit from better geographical trends, but it seems far fetched that anyone could do either of these things without significant capital and knowledge.The last area they discuss, â€œmovesâ€, are what they believe are the items truly under your control. But the items they discuss in this section are almost as intractable as the others. Specifically, moves are programmatic M&A, dynamic allocation of resources, strong capex, strong productivity gains (i.e., overall margins and labor productivity), and improvements in differentiation (i.e., great gross margins deriving from being able to charge high prices because of a great product or generate outsized returns because you are operationally better than the competition). So basically 1) make good acquisitions regularly, 2) allocate resources regularly and to the best opportunities, 3) spend money on capex wisely, 4) make sure you continue to manage your overhead better than your competitors, and 5) build products that your customers like better than the competition even though you charge more than they do.If this all seems like â€œwell of course thatâ€™s what I should do, but how do I do thatâ€ thatâ€™s what I thought by the end. Basically a lot of â€œrun your business better than the competition and you will end up earning more money than they do!â€ I would not recommend this book if you are looking for practical ways to improve your strategy. Instead, check out â€œGood Strategy, Bad Strategyâ€ which is significantly more useful and entertaining to read to boot.

I read a lot of business strategy books, and this one is the very best. It laid raw the presumptive reasoning that almost forces you to leverage your immediate desires for you business by using un-risked guessing about what your future is.

This is a fantastic read which unveils some key insights on the reality of 'the social side of strategy' which is endemic in today's large scale enterprises. In order to make 'big moves' and reduce the likelihood of the infamous 'hairy back', executives need to pay greater attention to the behavioral characteristics inside the corporate boardroom which prevent firms from truly delivering economic value beyond the middle of the pack.I recommend this for corporate strategists and any c-level executive in search of achieving a real 'hockey stick'.

I got this for my boyfriend who is always forgetting things. He even forgot what time he had to be at work recently (and he's the store manager!) I can't believe that he actually sits down every morning and evening with me to plan his life. He even does it on his own now! I am so excited to see him improve and I think he is enjoying the process. I got him red because it is his favorite color!

Good for morning routine and daily focus. Two main dislikes: 1) It is too big which made it real uncomfortable to work with and 2) not good distribution of space for note taking, etc.

So surprised there were so many good reviews. Itâ€™s really badly organized, thereâ€™s no monthly calendar or larger view. Unhelpful for me to really plan other than day by day (who has the time to write a plan every single day?). It does look nice, thatâ€™s where the stars come from.

I didnt like it at all. I actually returned it and only got $3.07 back. I do not recommend.

I purchased this planner after having compared various options and reading reviews. Great concept but this planner is missing Monthly pages before the daily. It jumps right into day 1 with no overall monthly ahead planning. There is only one month page about half way in and no others thereafter. I personally find it difficult to work towards my goals if i havent thought about my whole month (or three month ) goals and it feels as if you are driving blind, day by day. The planner then becomes more like a journal where you are only recapping the week over and over but not planning forward past one day at a time. I wouldnt recommend this planner as is. It needs to be a lot more practical even maybe considering a travel size. This planner is the 8.5 x 11 .

I love this planner. Like most products we use daily, it's important to find the right one. Planners are always so personalized with specific features so I have been through many feeling unsatisfied. This planner has morning prompts, spots for you to list your tasks, and is a great tool for taking the first ten minutes of your day to set the tone needed for success! It's also undated (which I love) so you can pick up whenever. The only thing that makes me sad is that the weekly prompts are after every seven undated daily prompt. While I'm sure this was designed to keep you using it daily and dedicated to investing your personal strategic planning, if I miss a day I feel like I am wasting a pages (this happens a lot more with dated planners, however). Check this out and also his book, "High Performance Habits" as the journaling questions are in line with the concepts from his book.

Most in-depth planner I have ever used. It will definitely help you create new habits if you use it. It takes some time and commitment as there are a lot of questions daily. I find myself slipping at times, but still go back to it off and on as I love the prompts. Very good thought-provoking questions every day and especially on the weekends!

This planner doesn't come with a monthly layout like it states in the description, which doesn't make it very useful as a daily planner for me.

Daniel doesn't just offer up suggestions he actually takes you through the process and shows you the 'how to'. My partner is now reading it and is getting as much out of it as I did. A great read. With each story she told, I said "me, too" with tears streaming down my face. I didn't ever expect anybody to relate to my story and then I read Jamie's and it was like she was retelling my story, one that I've been open to sharing but left some parts out. I feel like I can take a deep breath now. I'm pushing forward not letting shame and guilt hold me back. Believing it's worth saying, believing vulnerability breeds vulnerability.

Best money I have spent in a LONG time. I'm a nursing student and part of our clinical rotation was to write down our patients lab results and note on any abnormals why they were abnormal for my particular patient. This book lists out not just the normal levels, but what conditions can contribute to the high or low values. Sometimes it's pages and pages of possible reasons. This baby is a fantastic time saver for me.

Received this book with prime and it was in brand new condition as listed. Looking forward to using this book in class! Glad that it has color inside and is not all black and white.

Instead of going alphabetically, the book clusters certain tests together. I must always use the index to find what I need so it can be a little frustrating at first until you get used to the book. Once you're used to it, the content is better than other labs and diagnostics books.

This book is super helpful with my nursing homework and classes. It explains everything clearly and tells exactly what I needed to know about each diagnostic & lab test. Would definitely recommend.

This book has been a great for my clinical experience databases. I love how its easy to undersrand and gives explanations to everything (why a lab value may be high or low, if it's low or high what could be the cause). My school offers an electronic edition for free to us but I like the hard copy.

The online fast lab and lab dx does not work it takes you to a non working site!!! I needed access on my phone I can't carry this book around with me

Very helpful for me when writing care plans for clinical experiences. I use it to describe different lab tests, how to interpret them, and what assessments and interventions to utilize based on the reason for the lab test. It's nice to have the online resources available to me, as well. :)

There is something about this book that draws you in even though most of the characters are self-centered and malicious and you tend not to like them. The current of love, lust, and possession runs throughout the story which is told to the new renter of "The Grange" by the housekeeper of Wuthering Heights. As she sits and knits she spins the tale of the tempestuous love story of Cathy and Heathcliff, slowly but surely you are pulled in to all the machinations that the Lintons and Earnshaws and the orphan Heathcliff engage in across the cold, damp, windswept moors of the Yorkshire estate. Your mind becomes filled with Heathcliff, always Heathcliff, watching planning and deeply in love with Cathy. The story follows their lives through two generations.As a reader, I have to wonder what state of mind Emily Bronte was in when she wrote the turbulent tale. Published in 1847 the story was considered lurid and shocking, but a masterpiece. It is Bronte's only novel and is as relevant today as it was back then. Emily Bronte had been ill for some time and died in December of 1848.

A timeless classic. I read this book a long time ago and decided to read it again. Enjoyed it even more as a more mature women. :-) It's a sad story that makes you feel sorry for many of the characters but it's a good escape back to a time and place so different from where we are now.

I enjoyed the book. I was surprised how our modern-day language has, apparently, been dumbed down over the years. I'm college-educated, but found many words she used to be ones I had never heard. That said, I still enjoyed the book. I probably should have read it years ago in some English class, but it was never required. I took my time with no looming deadlines and enjoyed it.

There are two reviews here, since this special version of the book has two things going on. When I was a kid I had some weird built-in prejudice against anything labeled "classic". Unknowingly I read "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" and even Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar," but I thought I had "discovered" them--had anyone told me they were classics, I wouldn't have read them. Stupid, but true. When I was in my thirties I read "A Tale of Two Cities" and re-thought my whole position on the classics--maybe there was a reason they were called that. So I read a lot of them, but I never read "Jane Eyre." I saw about four different movie versions of it, though, and figured I knew the story well enough. But when Writer's Digest announced this version, I saw a chance to correct an omission AND get some good writing advice. KM Weiland's book on structure, after all, is a masterpiece. Hence, this double-edged review.1. Jane Eyre. The movie versions I've seen were, surprisingly, fairly true to the book (not often the case, as anyone who reads a book and then watches its movie knows). Shy governess, obnoxious-but-philosophical middle aged guy. Crazy wife in the attic. Missionaries. They hit all the high points. But Bronte's prose is well-done, and her characters are far more complex than the movies. She has a great way of building suspense, too. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I wanted to see it happen, so I kept reading. And I was satisfied when I closed the book: a good story, well-told.2. The notes. Weiland's notes are, at the risk of sounding sycophantic, brilliant. Remember, these notes are about the writing of the book, not about the historicity or any of the other kinds of analysis you'd usually see in annotations. (My annotated "Sense and Sensibility" practically explains each curtsy as well as why dances lasted half an hour.) There's plenty of analysis, but it's all about how Bronte tells the story. For readers of Weiland's "Structuring Your Novel," it's like a Part II, showing the First Plot Point, (p118), Midpoint (p216), Third Plot Point (p325), Resolution and Epilogue. There are even pages at the back with questions (and lines for answering them or writing other notes) about structure. But wait, there's more! There are notes on perspective, voice, POV, conflict and tension, obstacles, character development, transitions, and way more than that. (I'm laundry listing here--but trust me, the notes could practically be their own book.)I'm a writer myself, though you won't see my name in Amazon in that capacity--I ghost write. Under my own name, I'm also a freelance editor (developmental, substantive, and copy--you name it, I do it) and have been one for years. But I still read books on writing all the time. Some I love, some I tolerate, and a few I've ridiculed (after jumping up and down on their tattered remains). But this book is its own category, or perhaps it defies category. It's a writing master class, analyzing a masterpiece of English literature to make its key points. If I were a writing teacher, this would be required reading for my classroom.One thing alone keeps the book from getting the fifth star, and it's a mechanical thing, nothing against Bronte or Weiland. They did their jobs well! But the typeface for the story is a serif font, and it's ten points at most, maybe eight. I needed to buy a +2 set of "cheaters" to read the story alone--and the notes are worse. They're a pale blue sans serif (the contrasting serif/sans serif fonts are good; the size is not and the pale color is not) that was hard to read even with the +2 cheaters. The notes are in the outer margins and take up about a third (one column) of each page. I wish they'd gone for broke and instead of giving us a six-by-nine (I'm eyeballing it, so the measurements are probably not exact), gone up a couple of sizes, just for the sake of those of us who are over 40. Then maybe they could've made the print a decent size.

Read the description. This is an 8.5 Ã— 11 monstrosity that is masquerading as a "paperback". Ridiculous. I mean, sure, shame on me for not reading a description, but when most people say paperback, they don't mean a students textbook. Sheesh.

This old classic is a classic for a reason. IF I read it in high school I don't remember it. So I enjoyed a delightful read over several days, savouring the descriptions, enjoying the character development as well as the plot. At first I thought it was a children's book, but after reading it, I think the children of today would have a hard time understanding many of the beautiful uses of the English language that Charlotte Bronte perfected.
