I enjoyed reading this and learning some interesting facts about WWII. Easy to read and understand, this book is perfect for trivia fans who want to know more about WWII. None of the facts are hard to find and most are well known by historians, but it's perfect for normal people who just want to know a bit more, or anyone who wants to learn some neat facts. I enjoyed the layout of this book, with short chapters ending with some trivia questions to help you think more about what you just read.

Great conversation starter and I'm looking forward to pulling out this book during the holidays. this was a very interesting book. the information written was very in depth and it gave a complete view of not only the wars themselves but what lead up to, caused, and what happened because of the wars. it also added the different ways that people have profited off of the wars via film, books and other media. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading another of his books.

I am a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater on a Destroyer, LST, and a Repair Ship. I began reading Mr. O'Neill's book on World War Two Trivia and it sounded like it was written by a child for children. Many parts of this book are completely inaccurate and I decided that I did not need this book in my 3000+ library of fine books. Mr. O'Neill should put a bit more effort in his research. The book was OK. The trivia is more in the form of anecdotes and stories...I would have preferred a question and answer format. Some of the information contained is not so trivial...fairly common knowledge. I don't regret buying the book, but not overly excited either.

My apartment's maintenance man enjoyed it so much! I wasn't sure - because he's too young to know much about the war. But he's an ex-Marine! He loved it - and I'll buy the next part of it for next time!

As a long time WW2 history buff I have a section of my personal library dedicated to it. Even with all the books and movies, there were many pieces of information I was unaware. This is well researched and objective. This is a great book for any history buff and would be a great history text book.

I really like the idea of this book: enabling parents to determine when to treat their children at home, see a doctor, or go to the emergency room. Each medical scenario features a neat workflow diagram and easy-to-follow instructions. Some basic first aid info is also provided.A good portion of the book is devoted to basic health information for parents from pregnancy through adolescence. While this info is helpful, some of it was outdated or overly-simplistic. For more complete information on nursing, I recommend "The Nursing Mother's Companion," and for eating and nutrition, I recommend "Baby-Led Weaning."However, if you're looking for a book to help you know what to do in a given medical crisis with your child, Taking Care of Your Child is a great resource to keep on your shelf.(I read the 9th edition of this book.)

I used this book 35+ years ago with my own child and I give the updated version of it frequently as baby shower gifts. So helpful to know when to seek outside medical treatment and things one can do at home. Clearly written and very well organized!! I just advise against first time expecting parents reading through all of it at once, as it will freak you out thinking about all the illnesses and injuries possible for children! LOL!

I used this book when my kids were small 25 years ago. Now I bought the 9th edition for my son to use with his new son. This is a user friendly book with good information. It is very easy to access, especially at 3am with a sick child.

This book is awesome! I wish I would have known about it with my first child. I use it at least once a week, often more.

A must have for EVERY parent! I wore mine out 30 years ago when my children were young, and purchased this for my son and daughter-in-law and grandson. This edition has lots more information than the one I had all those years ago, but the flow charts are still the best for answering any of your questions and concerns.

I gave this book as a gift to new parents. It's the same book, now many editions later, that my children's pediatrician recommended. It was consulted many times in their lives. A very helpful practical book, simple format.

We bought this for our son and daughter-in-law. We had the first edition when he was born and found it very useful. Would highly recommend for anyone, especially first time parents.

I have the first edition, and was happy to see it was updated and still around for my children.

This is the first book review that I’ve ever written and this is because most books are regurgitations of prior writings- this book is not the aforementioned. Mithu lays out a clear and workable process in order to improve ones relationship to stress. This book has some great recommendations without becoming too prescriptive or dogmatic about how one should begin to ameliorate stress. What I loved most about the book is that it is heavily researched derived and sparsely anecdotal if at all. Books of this sort should only lay out the facts and allow the reader to discern what is applicable to thier own life, which is exactly what Dr. Storoni has accomplished in my opinion.

I'm glad I took a chance on this book. I've struggled with stress my entire life, especially with being unable to let things go, and this book explains why. It describes what happens in the brain during a stressful event and how to overcome it. Dr. Storoni gives easy, practical tips for dealing with stress on a short term and long term basis. Some of the medical terminology gets complicated, but it really helps to know what's going on in the brain, that it's not as easy as just let it go. I feel empowered now. I have an actual strategy for dealing with the negative things in life. I'm not kicking myself for overreacting anymore. Very thankful to have bought this.

I first rented an audiobook of this title from the library. I felt it was so informative that I needed a personal copy. I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 58 and stress is my biggest trigger. I'm looking forward to reading this again at my own pace and implementing some of the suggestions for stress relief.

I truly enjoyed this book! Dr Storini gives you countless ideas on how to be in the best physical and emotional state to handle stress. Each idea is backed up and detailed with scientific examples that are fascinating. I recomend this book for everyone no matter the amount on stress you endure or have experienced.

Great read. This book gives you the technology to learn how to control stress. It's a technology we could all benefit from, in this fast paced and crazy world we live in.

I get stressed when I read this book and it wasn't the purpose I guess, considering the title of this book.The author tells the reader about different studies but there's a lack of more in-depth information.

I just finished reading the book and really enjoyed the read. It somehow confirms some of the basic ideas of strategy formulation and implementation, in terms of the need to have a coordinated efforts on multi fronts to have a successful strategy, but concentrated in 10 levers that the authors believe make the biggest impact.The authors concluded that companies that made it to the top of a Power Curve (a curve that ranks companies on their ability to create economic profits, with the ones on the top generating exponentially more economic profit than the 2300 or so companies in the sample) shared a similar characteristics in using 10 levers that contributed the most in the success of companies. If the statistical analysis of the presented results are correct (I assume they are, but have no mean to confirm or disagree), this view gives a good yard stick to compare companies from different industries and sizes on their ability to create value, and could be used as a guide post in strategy formulation to achieve better results. The authors referred to the social side of strategy (cognitive biases, status quo...etc) and their effect on strategy formulation and resources allocation, and contend that, used correctly, the Power Curve could be used to "de-bias" and have constructive discussions on strategy. The authors finally propose 8 shifts in the way strategy exercises are conducted, to improve the process and increase the chances of success.Overall very interesting read, and i think the recommendations are practical and implementable, and could be used in strategy discussions in all companies!

I found this book to be particularly bad. The authors had some good insights like “don’t allocate resources across many opportunities; rather, pick your best ones and allocate them there”. But most of the book focused on completely non-actionable information. For example, if you have the best endowment (i.e., you are much bigger than the competition, have low debt levels, and have historically spend a lot on R&D relative to your competitors) you are more likely to earn outsized returns for your shareholders (which is how they measure good strategy). Of course as of right now, there is nothing you can do about that.They do acknowledge that some of their advice is non-actionable, but seem to miss the boat that almost none of their advice is actionable. For example, outside of your endowment your “trends” also significantly impact your ability. Trends reflect how strongly your industry is growing and how strong your geography is growing (e.g., China vs the UK). Of course you could completely change industries or move to an area like China to benefit from better geographical trends, but it seems far fetched that anyone could do either of these things without significant capital and knowledge.The last area they discuss, “moves”, are what they believe are the items truly under your control. But the items they discuss in this section are almost as intractable as the others. Specifically, moves are programmatic M&A, dynamic allocation of resources, strong capex, strong productivity gains (i.e., overall margins and labor productivity), and improvements in differentiation (i.e., great gross margins deriving from being able to charge high prices because of a great product or generate outsized returns because you are operationally better than the competition). So basically 1) make good acquisitions regularly, 2) allocate resources regularly and to the best opportunities, 3) spend money on capex wisely, 4) make sure you continue to manage your overhead better than your competitors, and 5) build products that your customers like better than the competition even though you charge more than they do.If this all seems like “well of course that’s what I should do, but how do I do that” that’s what I thought by the end. Basically a lot of “run your business better than the competition and you will end up earning more money than they do!” I would not recommend this book if you are looking for practical ways to improve your strategy. Instead, check out “Good Strategy, Bad Strategy” which is significantly more useful and entertaining to read to boot.

I read a lot of business strategy books, and this one is the very best. It laid raw the presumptive reasoning that almost forces you to leverage your immediate desires for you business by using un-risked guessing about what your future is.

This is a fantastic read which unveils some key insights on the reality of 'the social side of strategy' which is endemic in today's large scale enterprises. In order to make 'big moves' and reduce the likelihood of the infamous 'hairy back', executives need to pay greater attention to the behavioral characteristics inside the corporate boardroom which prevent firms from truly delivering economic value beyond the middle of the pack.I recommend this for corporate strategists and any c-level executive in search of achieving a real 'hockey stick'.

Best new book on business strategy in the 21st century. Very helpful insight that can be applied to the real world.

Overall was still helpful to understand what are the key suggests factors to evaluate. Would recommend based on premise but finished the book a bit disappointed.

Interesting analysis how the book segments companies into losers, mediocre and winners. And then explains what the winners did to do it. Can not be business as usual, got to be creative, think out of the box and take well thought out risks.The jockey stick emblemizes the usual anual business plans and projections, first down but the future projections bright, and which never happen. The book explains.
