If u want to learn how to do a torch down roof this book will teach u how. My first house roof was improperly torched down n it gave me a lot of agony, until finally it had to be redone after only 8 years. This book gave me the tools to under stand how the job should of been done, n now I can fix my own roof, n if I have to I know what to expect from another contractor. With this book I even torched down my own roof over a chicken coop n created my own green roof for it. I highly recommend this book!!!!!
Having put on a few tar-paper shingled roofs, I picked this up because I wanted to learn more about torch-down roofing. The one flattish roof that I have done is not leaking, as I used rolled tar-paper roofing on that one. I need to replace it, so turned to this book.This book is written for pros, which is something I appreciate. It could have been part of the "for pros, by pros" series, it is that good. The author has a ton of experience in the field, so starts with a thorough overview of all the tools you'll need for torch-down and felt roofing. He also covers safety basics. For pros, there are sections on things such as quoting bids and getting insurance. If you're a DIYer, you can simply skip this stuff and get to the how-to sections.The how-to sections of this book include many pictures and cover just about everything imaginable in flat and flat-ish roofing jobs. The author covers every kind of crack, seam, bend, and overhang you can imagine. Putting this roofing down is a bit like wrapping a present, and the images all show you how to get your seams right while running the torch.This book covers it all: even lead work is discussed and described in the next-to-last chapter. I don't plan to do lead work myself, but some may -- as this book is an authoritative guide to getting a perfectly sealed, torched-down roof.
