Animals of the Australian Outback: Animal Encyclopedia for Kids is a book that I really enjoyed reading. I have a love of things in Australia. I have some family that lives in Queensland, so it makes me a bit bias. When I look at this book it reminds me of this gorgeous country, great weather, good food and the amazing wildlife that live there.This book will tell you a bit about the vast Outback and what inhabits the rugged terrain. It goes on and tells you about lizards, snakes, spiders, dingos and the most famous marsupial, the kangaroos. It tells you about how these animals survive in the brutal heat and what they did to adapt. It tells you about how the animals protect themselves from other animals and predators.The photographs are amazing. They are bright and vibrant photographs that they make you think that you a right there near them. I think the photographer did an excellent job!This book is great to read with your kids or by yourself. Anything to help you learn and respect nature is a great thing. It will teach you a little bit about these animals and in some small way, make you want to visit this wonderful country. Just be careful of the crawlies that will bite!! I hope you enjoy the book. It is a cool but that takes no time at all to read. Your kids will love learning about the animals and as parents, you will love your kids learning. This book is a mere 18-pages. Not a lot, I know, but it's a good amount to keep your small child entertained. This book is best for children 5-10 years of age. I purchased it because I babysit for three young children in that age range and all three are in a phase where they are very interested in animals. Their attention span probably wouldn't last for books much longer than that, and it creates a great jumping off point for other discussions. Each animal is accompanied by a short paragraph, so it is far more photo-heavy than it is text-heavy. Also: all the photos are in very high quality, even on my kindle, so I was extremely pleased with that (and the kids were super excited too!).I think that for a children's book, for children who are interested in animals, this is a great book that can jump-start their interest in reading or other animals (or both!). I would not recommend this for purchase is your child is over the age of 12, if you are looking for research material, or if you are expecting comprehensive, encyclopedic level of knowledge. This is great to throw onto your kindle and is educational, so at least it keeps your kids away from game apps! I know that of the three kids I babysit, all three were very excited to listen to (or read) the text and look at the high-quality photographs. I'll definitely be purchasing similar books to read to them.I am required to disclose that I received this book for free in exchange for a review. That being said, I 100% stand by my review and I would not give it a different rating had I purchased it at full price.

The Outback is the vast, remote, arid interior of Australia. The Outback has no clearly defined boundaries.Beautiful photographs and short references about the Thorny Dragon, the Frilled-Neck Lizard, The Inland Taipan (the most lethal snake in the world), the Dingo dog, the Redback Spider, the Camels and the Kangaroos are well depicted on this book with high definition photographs in full color.As this book has beautiful, full colored, high detailed, photographs/pictures you may want to share with your kids and/or students as they can serve as point for further discussions or a way to develop language skill by promoting the children to express themselves about what they see and understand by looking at the photograph or picture.
I got this book for my six year and ten year old kids. My kids love anything to do with animals. I like exposing my kids to things around the world and this book is a good starting place for Aussie animals. Even though these animals are far from being cuddly they are definitely interesting.Each animal has a couple of cool facts about it that covers anything from what the animal eats to how it protects itself. The full colored and very detailed pictures give kids an idea of what is would be like to see one in real life. you can see every detail of the animals from their scales to the teeth. My kids enjoyed the book a lot. The animals were unusual and even I learned something new.I enjoy having this book on digital because I can take them everywhere. This book will be asked for again and again by my kids.I recommend this book to kids of all ages. It's a great opening for learning about Australia.
